Crim squad announced. Must admit my overwhelming thoughts are 'who?' and 'meh'.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/apr/24/austra...

Michael Clarke (C),
Brad Haddin (VC),
Jackson Bird,
Ed Cowan,
James Faulkner,
Ryan Harris,
Phil Hughes,
Usman Khawaja,
Nathan Lyon,
James Pattinson,
Chris Rogers,
Peter Siddle,
Mitchell Starc,
Matthew Wade,
David Warner,
Shane Watson

Predictions?

Well, unlike Glenda I'm only going to go with 4-0. Weather is bound to scupper at least one result.

He was in decent form back then too.
yes

His late swinging yorkers were awesome. He complemented our attack perfectly at the time.

Genius hit a ton for Surrey today. Will slot in to the T20 side on Thursday apparently.

Anyway - back to the Ashes.

Compton looks to be dropped - Root to open with Cook.

Compton feels a bit hard done by.

Perhaps understandably so.

What an awesome day to start an Ashes series. I'd actually like us to lose the toss, Crims bat, and back in the hutch by tea for 167.

cool

Is it a good call? Common sense says bat first - but overcast today - bowl first maybe?
Nah. It has to be seriously grassy/inclement before you win and opt to bowl. You don't generally want to be batting last.

Joe Root looks shakey. Can't see him standing the rigours of Test Match cricket very long. Trott looking bang out of form. 4 down by lunch.

Crims have started well. Don't panic chaps, it's a marathon not a sprint.

That's the first time I've ever seen hawkeye be inaccurate.

Should have stopped the ball at the first clip of the front pad, as it deviated the ball.
