Can anyone recommend a good golf club in and around Cambridge? Moving shortly, and need a new club, preferably one in near perfect condition. Cheers!

I've always liked Toft. Bit vanilla, depends on your ability (I'm rubbish)

Or Histon, Bar Hill. How far afield are you looking to go?
Going to based in Stilton, Brampton Park looks nice and they have some good offers on trial membership with no joining fee.

There are several accessible courses around Cambridge that I would recommend.

Until recently, I was a member at Girton and it is a nice friendly course with well kept Greens. This would be my 1st choice.
A little tight / narrow in places but a good challenge because of it. Leave the big dog in the bag unless you're having a good day.

The main benefit of Girton for me is the accessibility, the course is almost always open for general play and you don't need to book a tee off time in advance. For me, being able to turn up and play on a Summer's evening is a winner. Also it is great for playing a few holes in an evening, you can nip on and skip a few holes really easily because of the layout.

Alternatively, lots of people I know are members at the Menzies course in Bar Hill. Longer, wider, bit more formal imho and you do need to book in advance (which put me off) - has more members than Girton.

Other options are Bourn (lovely course) or Cambridge Meridian (again nice course but not so good for playing a few evening holes as everything goes miles away from the clubhouse) are options that I would consider.

All of the above in my mind are preferable to the Gogs, which is a nice course but way too expensive compared to the nearby competition.

Ever played at Brampton Park? It's also closest to me!

If anyone fancies a game to show me the highlights of any of the courses I'll be up for that in August, won't be much good though, haven't played since Oct haha

Brampton Park is my local course (non Member at the minute) and I play the course after 5 pm as its Twilight rates mid week £10 and weekend £12.50p as its relatively quite they do a reduced rate after 3:00 I think it’s about £20 something, you do have to book a tee time.
another great course is Wyboston lakes don’t have to book a tee time during the week and it's a nice course about 20 minutes past Brampton.
You could also look at Thorpe wood in Peterborough another nice course and if you become a member there you get free membership to Orton Meadow as well I believe.

If I'm about in August I'm happy to have a round, Brampton also boasts the hardest par 3 in the UK and it does live up to its reputation.wobble
I'll give you a shout when I'm about then!

I don't know any decent clubs that are cheaper???
Most of the places I've looked at are £700-900, I haven't played any so will have a few rounds to see what they're like but I can't imagine they're that bad.
