Some Welsh bloke at work mentioned that there was some other rugby going on at the moment, but I couldn't find out anything about that, so with the first games in the Premiership just a week away with a pretty tough welcome back for Worcester hosting Northampton in the first match, who else is looking forward to it? smile

Quins have made some pretty decent signings - we'll have to wait a bit longer for Jamie Roberts, but fingers crossed Samoa and Japan can conspire to give us back Tim Visser nice and early - so I'm hoping for a better performance than last season...

The first question that sprang to mind looking at the fixtures is how come Quins, as the only remaining London club in the Premiership, aren't playing in the London Double Header?

I too am a Quins fan but more to the point two clubs are likely to get penalised for breaking the salary cap.

"A London club and a West Country club".

So, could be Bath, Exeter or Gloucester for the West Country club. Keeps the anonymity...

Given that there is only one London though, let's condemn Quins out of hand, shall we?

Aren't Sarries in London as well now?
Hendon to be precise.
Ah yes, thanks chaps! I still had Watford in mind for some reason! smile

So, how do bans work when it comes to internationals then?

Hartley is starting for Saints tonight, so he was obviously allowed to count England's world cup matches as his ban, but where does the line get drawn?

I presume someone capped once for their country a couple of years previously couldn't count them, but is it just the 23 in the previous international played?

Heading to watch the Falcons tonight. I think (hope) we might surprise a few people this season.
I guess it didn't go according to plan. frown

Meanwhile, Wuss against Saints... Where the hell did they pull that one from??? Anything but the win for Wuss would've been criminal tonight! Saints had absolutely nothing outside the scrum!

And just to top it off, a win for Quins too! smile

World Cup? Who needs a World Cup! Bring on the Premiership! hehe

So, out of interest, who are we supporting?

Timlongs and Matt172 have already declared for Falcons and Saints respectively.

I'm first and foremost a Quins fan, with a secondary soft spot for Worcester, as the place of my birth and also recipient of my Underdog vote, until tonight at least! hehe

We won a game, we won a game!!!!!!

Great win from Falcons over Bath, first win at home against them in 13 years I believe. Bath aren't the side they were last year, but who cares, what a win!
Aw, bless! hehe

I have to say, whenever I read your long-suffering posts on here, I do always tend to hope Newcastle win a match or two. Ideally against Sarries, Exeter & Leicester! biggrin

Bit of a bugger that it was one of the non-televised games this week, or did you go to see it? I dragged myself through the Northampton and Sarries games, both of which were dire - Bonus Point of penalty tries, anyone? - and now am just left hoping that Quins vs Worcester manages as much in the way of fireworks as the Big Game did last week, now that I've got my voice back!

Certainly looking like a 3 horse race at the bottom now, wuss must be kicking themselves to be leading for 79 mins and not come away with anything at all
Having seen how Wuss played against Quins, I'd be more inclined to think it a 2 horse race.

That is all.

Kermit - we keep playing well and coming away with fk all. We've been doing it in the prem for years. It won't do us any good until we can turn it into results.
Sure, you're not about to start challenging for a playoff spot, but you're effectively a game clear of Irish and Newcastle on bonus points alone. Come the end of the season, I reckon those may be enough to be safe with a couple of games to play.

The playoffs look like being the current top 4. Although I want Quins to win I wouldn't be overly upset if the Chiefs prevailed in the end. Rob Baxter has done superb job with them. ABS for me otherwise.
Same for me. Quins all the way, but if Quins don't make the final, I'll be massively cheering on Exeter if they do.

I wonder how much the efforts in Europe will impact on the domestic season as time goes on?

If you look at Quins in Europe so far, after 4 matches all round, you get this... hehe

Quins: Tries Scored, 27. Tries Conceded, 4. Try BPs, 4. Points Scored, 20.
The rest of the group put together! Tries Scored, 33. Tries Conceded, 56. Try BPs, 4. Points Scored, 21.

They look like they're going to romp through that at a canter, with no need to risk any of their key players if they need to rest them, needing only 2 points from the remaining 2 pool matches to be sure of a home QF, so surely that's got to help their domestic campaign as well?

Is it just me, or has the Six Nations effect seemed much more pronounced this year than in recent seasons?

The only reason the top 4 haven't lost all their games in both weekends so far is that one of the games was between top 4 teams in Sarries vs Exeter, and even then both teams looked like they were doing their best to lose from memory of the highlights?

Looking at the table, and the remaining fixtures for the weekend, it really underlines the importance of that game tonight.

I reckon if Quins had lost, they could well have fallen to 7th by the end of the weekend. As it is, I reckon Leicester will fall to 6th.

It's going to be interesting to see how Sarries get on with 14 men for the remaining 50 minutes.

Meanwhile, how on earth are Wasps only three ahead?

Anyway... Wuss winning by a point. How many do we think they should've won that by? At least 8 in my view. They didn't half make heavy going of what looked like it should've been a win at a canter!

Rumours circulating that Fracois Hougaard has signed a longer term deal at Worcester. Bloody hope so.
Interesting, I've heard rumours that he's coming to Saints next year
No, you're confusing two things. As part of his longer term deal at Worcester, Dean Ryan has persuaded the pope to make Hougaard a saint.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for Wuss fans to adapt the old "Ooh ah, Cantona" chant. With the correct pronunciation, they'd get "Ooh ah hoo hah" and sound like they were doing ambulance impressions the whole way through the match! getmecoat

I'm a Quins fan and I wasn't born in Worcester but well done today
One of the worst bits of assistant reffing ever seen notwithstanding, from the first half at least (all I saw before having to head to my daughter's end of term Stagecoach show), Wuss definitely deserved the win.

For any who didn't see it, one of the Quins players tried to keep the ball in play, the assistant stuck his flag up, half the players on both teams started walking in for the lineout, the assistant put his flag down, and one of the Wuss forwards picked the ball up and ran it into the corner. I know you're supposed to pay to the ref's whistle, but it was ridiculous...

Still, thank god the Six Nations is over, and we get Visser, Roberts and the England boys back!
