Championship Promotion thread
Discussion
Seeing as so many of us support/follow different teams and seeing how close things continue to be, i thought 1 main thread maybe a good idea.
Another Mixed bag of results tonight.
We (Cardiff) got a well deserved 2-2 draw at Southampton, but we've got another very hard game at Derby on the weekend. Derby scraped a draw as well as Sunderland. Wolves good run came to an end at Coventry, whilst Preston won and leaders Birmingham lost at Norwich.
Just had a look at the table and there's only 7 points between Cardiff in 7th and Birmingham and Derby who are level at the top.
Still all to play for....... and i'm sticking with my prediction that this could go all the way!!

Palace had a great result last night at WBA, who lost for the 3rd game in the row. Plus they are without Curtis Davies for the rest of the season after he broke a metatarsal!
Who told you i did that?? lol... runs into the hills and hides sheep - Welshman's best friend
Well with the way you (Derby) played against QPR tuesday night, i'm confident of going there and getting a result!
With everyone continuing to beat everyone else, i still think any of the teams in the play offs and just outside can still get into the automatic promotion places....
Every match weekend is very exciting at the moment.

Hey Gaz - Derby all the way!
It's certainly going to be an exciting finish this season.

Gutted We (Cardiff) lost to Sunderland. Think we've played all the top teams now, so hopefully winning the last 6 games will give us a chance at the play offs.
Shocked by wolves hammering by the saints! Didn't see that coming.
Both Derby and Sunderland are looking very good for the automatic places and Birmingham have still got a couple of games in hand!
All still to play for.

Just been looking at the remaining fixtures and Cardiff haven't got a bad run in now, so hopefully they can claw some points back.
After wolves last game, they now have sunderland this weekend!! Could be painful!
Derby have an easy ish run in as well, so can't see them finishing outside the top 2 tbh.
Birmingham and Sunderland to definately finish in the top 3, then its 5 teams for the remaining 3 places!

lol @ v7ette - You've got good players and a good manager, Palace have to be one of the biggest disappointments of the season, that's for sure.
Personally, i don't think so. Only because there's still a gap to Derby, Birmingham have another game in hand, and mainly because i see Derby and/or Birmingham finishing above them.

Can Sunderland still win the league? And if so, would they be the first team go from 24th place, to 1st place, in one season?

Preston lose to QPR, that's their game in hand gone. Good result for the Wolves, we just need a draw at Sunderland to make sure we stay in the top 6.
Great strike from Blackstock for what turned out to be the winner! Nugent should've scored too though! That's 2 defeats in a row for Preston, and against teams in the bottom 5!
Going to be a very interesting easter weekend with most teams playing twice!
Absolutely gutted we (Cardiff) lost again! I've been shouting at the tv that's the play offs gone, but looking at the table, we're 9th, but only 3 off southampton in 6th. Maybe there's still hope if we win our remaining games.
Fancied Sunderland to win, shocked at Preston and Birmingham losing though. Very good win for stoke at WBA who could yet make it.
I think Sunderland will finish 2nd now behind Derby. Birmingham are certain for 3rd and i can see Southampton definately finishing in the play offs.
Down to the last 2 spots i think.

Gutted Cardiff lost again! That's 4 in a row now and i think we've blown the play offs now. 10th place and the lowest we've been all season!
What really upsets me is how we can start so well and lead the table and now throw even a play off place away in the last 6 games!
First time i've seen Sunderland play this season tonight against Southampton. Missed the second half, but was very impressed by the way the team played, how organised they are and i can see why they are doing so well!
Much rather Cardiff had been crap to begin with (like sunderland) and are now top of the table!

At the start of the season I was convinced Cardiff were going to go up as champions. They gave us a proper thumping earlier this season. It is starting to get very close in the top 10 though, 5th and 6th places are still very much up for grabs.
Yeah me too and i remember that game really well.
Cardiff have beaten most of the top sides and really well in some cases - Wolves and Preston for example, but as we all know, its over 46 games in a season and no new investment or stadium or anything else is going to matter, if the players don't perform week in, week out.
Going to be a very interesting end of the season for sure.
Valuable win for Birmingham last night!
Looking at this weekends fixtures, i think Wolves v Birmingham on sunday is huge!! Especially if Wolves lose and Stoke win, as Stoke will replace them in the play offs!
Very hard to call, but i think the last play off place could come down to those 2 teams.

DCFC!!!!!!! Sorry Luton fans, doubt well get auto promotion tho, birmingham and sunderland dont seem to wanna slip up
I didn't think they would either, but Colchester 3-1 Sunderland! Seems a very hard place to go Colchester and they have to be up there as one of the suprises of the season.
Brings Derby and Birmingham back into things! Plus with Preston losing, Southampton still have a chance.
