S2 Esprit Brakes

Hi

by brother has just bought an S2 Esprit and the brake pedal is long and retardation poor. I know the Esprit never had good brakes (even the later ones are not great IMO) but I was expecting at least a hard pedal. Any thoughts?

normal stuff looks ok i.e. discs not too work, pads ok, lines braided.

Must admit I have doubts about the master cylinder. We have checked the servo and that seems to be working fine.
We are changing callipers and front discs and pads this weekend. The callipers have never changed as far as we can work out and the car is at 80k so they are past their sell by date. Discs and pads are a no brainer as are so cheap and they are worn. If all that plus a good bleed don't sort the problem then I will do the master cylinder. Hopefully there is a rebuild kit available.
