73rd Members Meeting 2015
Discussion
So as all GRRC members have probably seen in the recent email that's gone out, information and dates will be announced Friday.
So the question is with all the discussions of people not attending this years event for different reasons. After seeing how successful it was and the good feedback from us that went will you be attending if the dates are suitable for your diary?

I should put my view as well.
I will certainly be going again. My main concern is the amount of tickets I will be able to purchase ideally I need 3/4 but last year they originally limited it to 2 per membership prior to allowing people to purchase more tickets.
It was by far the best Motorsport event that I have been to so far.

I love Goodwood been to every FOS, Im in the GRRC, always popping in there on my bike, have done it all. However for me the one big issue of the 72nd Members meet was not letting the F1 cars go for a time, why o why were they stuck behind F40's? I love F40's but they were in the way.
I was hugely disappointed especially after all the hype, F1 turbos this, Group B rally that, Group C etc! They should be going flat out, that's what we want to see that's what people paid to see, I can go to a Mithril day and watch cars go round the track slowly for free! Lord March, make it happen.

Taking all the safety aspects into consideration the display cars were lapping much, much slower than most (if not all) of the races this weekend just gone. The Le Mans cars and F1 cars could easily have lapped at around the 1:25 lap speed without difficulty and it would have been no more dangerous than the Whitsun Trophy or the 1950s F1 cars... indeed it would have been safer due to the improvements in more modern cars. The leading cars in the Whitsun Trophy were matching (or actually beating) the old course record of 1:20.4

Very pleased to have received my invitation to purchase tickets for the 73rd Members Meeting. I'm only on the waiting list, so was pleasantly surprised when the packaged arrived in the post, yesterday. I'm keen to attend both days, but what are the accommodation options for the weekend? We always do the campsite for the Revival, but I presume that Goodwood don't offer this for the MM?
Great lurking!!!! It's find your own accommodation for this one I'm afraid. But I can assure its worth doing!!!thef1stig said:
Also heading down for next year, but it seems nearly all the hotels in Chichester are fully booked? Anyone have any good advice for places to stay?
Would any of you that where there this year remember when in the afternoon the on-track action on saturday ended?
A lot of people stay at midhurst and its a great drive down. I've previously stayed in Bognor for the revival which was also ok. Would any of you that where there this year remember when in the afternoon the on-track action on saturday ended?

Racing finished around 5-6pm before the evening festivities started.

I'll be getting my tickets from the ticket office
Snag is I'm 65 miles away which is a bit of a schlep in the dark, early on a Saturday morning. 9.3 said:
Had an email from Goodwood today stating tickets for the 73rd Members Meeting 2015 are going on "general sale" on Thursday 6th November.
At which point it becomes the 73rd Meeting 2015 I presume?
It all seems to be a bit rushed this year doesn't it, giving members only a month before offering it to the waiting list then another month until opening it up to "others" At which point it becomes the 73rd Meeting 2015 I presume?
Is uptake really that bad? And I've seen no confirmation from anyone that it will be capped at 20,000 this year.

73rd Members Meeting tickets went on sale to all GRRC members in August. The mail out that members received in the week leading up to the launch (with the 72nd MM DVD in the back) outlined the ticket sales plan which was to go on sale in August to members, invite the GRRC waiting list to purchase at the end of September & release any of the remaining tickets to the public in November. The price will continue to be discounted for GRRC members until 31st December.
We are capping the capacity at 20,000.
I remeber reading the ticket outline but I'm away from all my membership information so could remember the exact timeline. Cheers for clarifyfying. I got my 3 tickets when they went on sale, and looking forward to it as this years was brilliant. We are capping the capacity at 20,000.
Good news to hear it's capped at 20,000 still. I'm expecting it to sell out quicker than this years as now people have seen what to expect.

More than 25 examples of Grand Prix cars built between 1971 and 1976 will be celebrated at next year’s 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting, and fans of the era will point to one stand-out, never-to-be-repeated feature.
Where the late sixties saw the introduction to Formula One of wings and the early days of downforce, the first half of the seventies will forever be remembered for enormous, towering airboxes, as well as cheesecloth, kaftans, bell-bottoms, Campari, and cheese and pineapple cubes on sticks …
In 1976 it was decreed that the car’s airbox could not be higher than the roll-hoop behind the driver and the whole thing came to an end. Prior to that though, with designers presumably chasing a ‘ram-air’ effect they could build as high as they wanted and in doing so created arguably one of the most visually distinctive Grand Prix eras ever.
Descending upon Goodwood between March 21st and 22nd will be some stellar examples including two ex-Niki Lauda Ferrari 312Ts and a 312B3, two Lotus 72s and a 76, a pair of Marches, McLarens, Tyrrells, a Shadow DN1 and some rarer machinery like the only Amon AF101 in existence, a Trojan T103-1 and such a thing as a (the?) Token RJ02.
Following this year’s highly successful 72nd Members’ Meeting we can’t wait for the 73rd. We’ve lots more to tell you about it, but you’ll have to watch this space…

A request for PHomer can we get village disco back for the evening entertainment? They're mix of old school music with reading parts of Haynes manuals and motoring tales had our group in stitches for a large part of the evening!!

The evening entertainment was one of the highlights of the weekend for me. I won't be giving away any spoilers as to what's planned for next year I'm afraid!A request for PHomer can we get village disco back for the evening entertainment? nd my only request is to make sure all the food and drink outlets outside the party enclosure remain open after the last race. This year we watched the last race and then meandered into the infield only to find the blokes trying to put out the fire pits and the bars closing. Took ages to get a drink and as fast as the bloke tried to kill of the fires we were surreptitiously putting more logs on We're the members so their our logs after all
Keep of our logs!!! Yes we did very similar what into the infield to grab a pint to watch the last 30min of racing to be told they're closed and we had to wait for the evening festivities to start. Gassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
