Friends of mine were there last week, great ambience, food fantastic but the service was a tad slow....some mixed reviews on TripAdvisor but predominantly positive
Sounds good, slow service to some people is just right for others, we won't be in a rush so hopefully it will be just right.Just got home, had a nice day walking around Chichester and my wife is very happy with her shopping.
Dinner last night was really enjoyable, we had pre-dinner drinks in the bar and our friends were late as expected but we were not pressured to move to the restaurant so were probably twenty five minutes behind time in getting to our table.
The relaxed atmosphere continued as we chose our food and drink but once ordered the first course and wine arrived quite quickly. Two of us chose crispy oysters, one mushroom mousse and one duck eggs en cocotte, all were pronounced excellent.
My wife went for her usual fish option and was very happy, the rest of us chose the beef butchers board which was absolutely delicious with several cuts cooked in different ways, it was served with possibly some of the best large chips I've ever tasted and the winter greens we ordered to accompany it were fresh and vibrant.
The wine list had a good choice in a fairly wide price range, the ladies were happy with their Bolney English Rose and my choice of the Carmenere went very well with the beef.
The ladies couldn't manage another course but my friends bread pudding was the easy winner in that category. I had to have the coffee in a tin mug just to see what it looked like, it was actually very good coffee and the tin mug was quite "bright" so went very well with my 12 yr old rum.
The members 20% discount deal brought the cost for four down to a very reasonable £222.00 including service, overall it was a very good meal in a nice setting with good service and we will definitely go back again. Recommended!!!
