This thread got me thinking about cars we had in SA in years gone by.

I'm sure many of these have been sold in other countries, but they should remind you of SA.

As per the linked thread:
Nissan 1400

Nissan Sentra (Old Man Pints had one)

I was also recently remembering the Toyota Avante (Old Man Pints had one too)

And the Toyota Cressida (Grandad Pints has one - his P&J)

What other South Africa motoring nostalgia have you to share?

I had the Ford Lazer Sport. Several memories in the back of that. biggrin

My dad had a '76 Ford Cortina Big Six station wagon - bought brand new out the box. Legend car.

Let's not forget the Venter.

Nope, I didn't have one but had two friends who had in pale green, plus there were a few others knocking about which always seemed to be in that colour.

My dad had a Skyline (I remember building a snow-dog on it in the snow in Ceres) and a Big Six Cortina station wagon.

Mrs Pints' gran has had one of those Hondas for many, many years. Would love to know how many miles it has on it. She does regular journeys from Kirkwood (near Grahamstown) to EL and PE in it.

My boss had an Audi 500 and I loved driving it. It took an age to get up to speed but once you got going, nothing was going to stop it. biggrin

A mate of mine had a Ford 3.0 V6 bakkie.
Old Man Pints had the 2.5 V6 "Big Six" Cortina (1976).
Any idea the sort of power that thing would have had?

The 3.0 was 102kW, or 112 in fuel injected form in the runout Sierra XR6i. So that would have been about 140bhp in a Cortina. I don't recall ever seeing a 2.5 version though.
It was an SA only option. It was the 2.5 OHV Essex engine.
