Budget mountain bike?

Basically right now I'm after something that is under £250 if possible but the cheaper the better, is it best to buy used at this price point?

It'll be used for some road, some trails and on the beach.

Any reccomendations/ advice? Is it best to wait a bit and get something more expensive that'll last longer and be a lot better?

Thanks for all the help. Will definetly look at all the links in a couple of weeks, was going to buy a bike today but a puncture in my car last night on an unusual tyre size means that funds won't allow it just yet

Dammit! Literally about 3 hours too late, went down to halfords before it shut and got an 'Apollo evade' I know it's not great but it'll get me out and about for this year and then I can get something with a bigger budget next year when I'm more into it.

The bike's RRP is apparently £370 and I got it for £175 and the helmet, repair kit and lock only came to £9 cause the man messed up the transaction so happy days.

Think I'll get a yearly membership down at bedgbury forest, anyone got any experience of how it is there?
