A - When it's the Ribble Cycles "VERY LAST CHANCE EXTRA 10% DISCOUNT OFF EVERYTHING*" 'sale'.

*OFFER EXCLUDES BIKES, GROUPSETS, GEARSETS & ENDURA - £60 MINIMUM SPEND

Now I'm a realist, and I fully understand that some things cannot be discounted for a variety of reasons. My issue really is with the inclusion of the word "EVERYTHING" in the tag line for the sale, when clearly the discount is applicable to far from "everything" as any reasonable person would likely define the word...

What a bunch of kerrrrrnuggets! irked

This will go some way to explaining why the price of the groupset (Deore 2 x 10) that I wanted wasn't reducing in price when I typed in the 'discount' code...

I'm not that bothered to be fair. I'm just annoyed that I spent ages trying to work out why the "extra 10%" wasn't being applied to my basket, when the goods I was trying to order weren't actually eligible for the 'discount'. I'd done exactly what the email intended, and psychologically fallen for the "Everything" bit, and not read the (far smaller) list of exclusions.
I still might go for the 2 x 10 Deore group to sort my MTB out, but at least now there's no rush to beat some arbitrary deadline, and I can go measure my current groupset to ensure I get the same crank length, etc, and check compatibility as it'll (hopefully, if the ten speed cassette will go straight onto the freehub in place of my 8 speed kit, and the new cranks and bottom bracket will fit the BB shell) be replacing a 3 x 8 Acera (and some lesser bits) groupset.
