I really want to ride up Cheddar Gorge for some reason.

I live in Southampton and will chuck the bike in the car, drive a bit closer then do a 4hrs(ish)/60-70mile ride around the area. Was thinking about starting in Frome. Any suggestions?

(happy to be told Cheddar is actually rubbish and you should go here instead)

In 2 weeks time, there's the www.somersetgranfondo.co.uk sportive, if you'd prefer to ride with others around you.
I'm tied to a certain date, which isn't that weekend. Thought I'd be able to use their route but it goes the wrong way for me.

Thanks for the route, can't see it for some reason?

Thanks for the offer of parking, didn't want to drive too far, but that could change. Looking for a nice route, but with as much climbing as possible (within reason!)

That looks pretty much perfect. I'll be heading over on Saturday 16th May, probably get there by noon. Would be nice to have company if you're free.

Going to give this a miss and stay local unfortunately. Its just not worth driving almost 2hrs each way for a 4hr ride imho.
