The weather was good, the bike was clean, work was bunked and the ride commenced - 107.5 miles, 6.5hrs and 6821ft gain.

Stopped every 20 miles for 5 minutes or so and had a snack, big drink and Had lunch at 60miles overlooking the sea.

Went through 4 energy gels, 3 cans of coke, a hot chocolate, slice of bakewell, 1 pint of strongbow and a jacket potatoe with tuna salad.

Feel ok now, legs are good, bit sunburnt though!

I definitely need some better fitting road specific shoes, my worn out old spd's have made a nice blister on each little toe.

As another bonus rolled over 1000miles this year!

Only been riding 2 and a bit years after only starting to lose weight, And only had a road bike since March this year!

Hopefully the first of many this year...

Thanks everyone, to answer some questions:

Im 32, 5'10" and currently weigh over 14stone...

My longest ride before this was 69miles so quite a jump!

I will never be a quick rider and no abitions to race, just to get fitter and enjoy my mtbing more.

On the food, i thought i had done quite well - there is no way i could of gotten around on any less! However i did just have a salad for dinner (and a few more pints) and not pig out like a normally do

I'm marshalling the Fred this year - helps it is on my doorstep!

I have done all the climbs individually but never linked them, thinking I will enter for next year ASAP and just start more training rides. Either way it's a challenge I want to do at some point
