Ive been humming and harring over getting a road bike to add to my Hybrid for god knows how long now, trawling through endless websites and reading many reviews. Just noticed a Decathlon has opended nearby recently so popped down and low and behold I spotted a bargain, they have the Btwin Triban 540 on sale for £500, yes, thats a 105 (shifters and deraileurs) equipped drop bar bike with carbon forks for 500 notes! Needless to say i now have one on order, it looks bloody amazing in the flesh, website pics dont so it justice.

You can get a 2014 cube with 105 everything and ultegra derailleurs for £750. Weighs 1kg less too.
I didnt have £750 to spend and i shant be doing the TdF so i doubt 1kg will matter, i have several more myself to lose tongue out, and yes i realised its "only" 10spd.

Did a quick 20 miler this afternoon, first time on a drop bar bike since my teens which is some time hehe overall very pleased, apart from a stiff neck due to being unused to the riding position, things I'm likely to change, the seat, got severe arse ache after an hour and a half pootle, the chainset, a proper Shimano 105 one to replace the cheapo chinese crud fitted, £69 from Wiggle. Other than that its spot on, pleased as punch.
