Turbo Trainer Help!
Discussion
I'm a fair weather rider, there I've said it... I know rule 5 will be shouted at me but you know what... I ride for fun and if it's wet and windy I'll don the neoprene and go sailing.
I'm not doing a Gruffy and feel a need to pop to Bilbau for Tapas, Edinburgh for Irn Bru, Wales for lavabread (and see Yam Yo Mo & Mrs B) or race halfway across what was Europe in a couple of days so there's no real need for me to go out in ste weather.
But, this being England does mean that I don't get out on teh bike as much as I should and it woudl be good to lose a little weight and get stronger legs (helps with sailing) so I've got a Turbo and thought it woudl be good to start to use it.
But how?
I had a go yesterday and set myself a programme which was;
- set a reasonable cadence (80/90) in a moderate gear which gave a fair pace (17/8mph) which I maintained for half an hour.
- the Turbo has 5 clicks of increasing resistence
- so every 5 minutes I increased resistence by 1 click whilst maintaining cadence.
- then 5 minute recovery back with no resistence.
- for the 2nd half hour I kept the same gear but increased cadence to 90/100 which increased speed to 20mph.
- then increased by a click every minute.
Am I on the right track or does anyone have any other(better) programmes?

I've got a code for a free month on Trainerroad if you'd like to give it a try.
It transformed my usage and tolerance for turbo sessions over last winter!
