Medical fitness certificate

Just had an email reminder that I need to get one of these signed off by a Doctor prior to the Marmotte, GP has quoted £40 for me to drop the form off and then pick it up.

How much have other people had to pay and did you have an examination? Seems like money for old rope to me. Especially as I am having to have a compulsory medical and blood test as I am now 40!

I understand I need it, may need to keep a copy with his signature, stamp and date separate if doing more than one event!

I can get that all done by the nurse at work......obviously she isn't a Dr! I expect my GP will simply sign if off and buy a couple of decent cigars with the £40!

Yes it is, would it be easier to get a Cat 4 license? I assume that would cover me?
