Just giving this a little plug as it always seems like a well guarded secret. Been on my calendar for the last few years since discovering it.
Prepare yourself, the facility itself makes SPR look like Las Vegas ready for the Queen to visit - but this just adds to the great grass roots vibe there. A very worthy event that doesn't clash with anything better, held by enthusiasts and with its own unique laid back atmosphere and added attractions.

Aug 24-25th National Hot Rod Reunion
Hot Rod Reunion will be a weekend of unashamed nostalgia with a Show ‘n’ Shine area for hot rods and pre ’72 custom and classic American/British cars and bikes. The on-track action allows plenty of opportunity for pre ’72 RWYB sessions throughout the weekend, so make sure you have your driving licence and a helmet (some loan helmets may be available) if you’d like to run your car in the tyre tracks of your drag racing heroes. There will be championship drag racing on both Sunday and Monday with two complete championship rounds for the huge fields of American muscle cars of the American Super Stock (A/SS) championship. The dragsters, altereds, hot rods and doorslammers of York Raceway’s Sportsman ET and Pro ET championship bracket classes and the “heads-up” Super Cup cars will qualify on Saturday and race Sunday for round 6 of their championships as will the Volks Stock series for those of a classic VW persuasion.
The evening of Sunday 25th will feature the 36th Annual UK Street Racer Championship, where the competitors must run in full street trim and will be required to hot-lap back to the pairing lanes with no cool-down or tinkering time between elimination rounds in a bid to become the quickest truly “streetable” car. Also on Sunday a cruise into the historic city of York will give you a chance to see the sights before returning to the track for live entertainment, bench racing and revelling in the way it used to be in the bar. Throughout the weekend, Julian Web will be making exhibition runs and performing flame and thunder shows with the spectacular 10,000hp Split Second jet dragster. Chris Murty (on behalf of York Raceway) said “Nostalgia drag racing has grown to become a huge phenomenon right across the world and at York Raceway we are proud to always recognise the roots of our sport and by partnering with the NSRA to bring some of the coolest hot rods, customs, and race cars from the past and present together we honour our hot rod heritage in our unique annual August bank holiday motorsport event.”
