Competition Eliminator FWD indexes (and SP/C question)
Discussion
Hello DragHeads,
I have read on eurodragster.com recently that the MSA is "testing" allowance of FWD cars in CE.
Who has more info on that, where can I find the indexes ?
I guess the safety regs apply to the ET and speed the car in question has entered or run,
the faster the index, the more safety stuff you need ?
The flywheel shield is one of the big issues, depending on model, type & mods
it may be very difficult to go 360° around the bellhousing.
In Germany, a driver got his scrutineering process complete by adding a "80% around" shield
and then reinforcing the front bulkhead in the "20%" area where a flywheel (or it´s shrapnel)
could cause personal damage.
Driveshaft loops are a bit more difficult than with RWD but doable.
What do PHers think of including FWD in CE, could that bring more from the "tuning" scene
into the race pits ?
Does the UK also have a "Sport Compact" class where everything but V8s are permitted,
IE 4cyl, 5cyl, 6cyl, rotaries and divided into FWD, RWD and AWD ?

Hello Luke,
thanks for the info, do you know where I can find these FWD indexes
or do the FWD cars have to enter in the same weight break C/E categories as RWDs?
I am thinking -or better hoping- that there might be a similar interest in the german FWD Scene
but some of the really fast cars are driven by tuners that want fast ETs and are not really interested in quali & rounds.
