Been looking again at S2000s and they prices vary wildly, from around £7-8K for something circa 2002/03 with 60/70K miles or more to over £10K for something more recent with lower miles.

Prices have risen a bit, but how much would you spend on a decent S2000 this year? Should £7-8K be enough to secure something decent which has been cared for?

We have an 06 plate with less than 15k miles. It's worth more to us than selling it.
Wow... 1.5K miles a year ... thats low - my 56 plate is hovering around 70K paid 8K for it from a main dealer 2 years ago - don't think I will have lost anything on it if I were to sell - but it's a keeper.

Based on what I am seeing on Autotrader and Ebay at the moment, I suspect your car is probably worth a grand more than you paid for it now.

Honda S2000 prices have definitely risen in the last year or so....The only cars now for sale at £5K, are CAT D damaged repaired cars...2-3 years ago that wasn't the case....

I am currently watching an ebay auction for a 2003 car down the road from me, with low miles (57K). It is making £6100 on its first day of auction with 9 to go, so I suspect it will break the £7.5K barrier easily enough....

Another question, is it worth paying extra for an approved Honda car?

I.e

Nice looking car but at least £1000 dearer than current cars for sale on the net with similar miles and that age...

Also, this one popped up today with nice low miles, but £8K....shows how they have risen in value...I have always liked the blue...

...so putting aside the colour (and I actually love that blue), does that look like a dear car, or reasonably priced one? There is another one at a dealer not too far from me on both ebay and Autotrader in the same "ladyboy blue", 69K miles, £6995. Both have hard tops which appeals as I don't have a garage and this winter has taken its toll on my current MX-5....the rain has been severe enough to get through the soft-top roof seal on a couple of occasions...

did laugh at the comment about "ladyboy blue". Not being a current or previous S2000 owner or having been on any Honda forums, I had no idea it was given this name and frankly I doubt if 99% of the general car buying public do either! ALL l I know is that my brother in law had this very model when new, in this colour, 02 reg, which I drove and was impressed with and he says he preferred to his subsequent 987 Boxster S....

I really don't think the colour will affect re-sale prices a few years down the road......! It isn't a more desirable post facelift model, but I reckon that's why it is cheaper now...

  • EDIT, this is all academic now as the ladyboy blue car has sold...was only on the net for a day.. poo...I rather liked it and was hoping to see it tomorrow as I coincidently I was travelling up to Saltford, just down the road from the dealer selling it....Must try and find another now...where are they all?!
