civic type r (newbie) help/advice needed please . . .

today - we have managed to sell our car at an amazing price - which is good for us.
In the theme of "slimming down" and trying to be a bit more sensible (LOL) we are looking for a Civic Type R to play with - but never really being into Hondas I need a 5 min phone call with an enthusiast if thats possible.
I have drivien one recently at a dealer and my budget is max £13k cash - but I am a bit confused by the variation in price vs year of cars on the market that all seem to have the same spec (to me anyway) and a whole variety of years - I need to get my head around this ASAP please.
