Breaking myself in nice and gently by going to Silverstone on Monday for 2 taster sessions.

I have an 05 Exige. Any tips for just 2 x 30 minute sessions?

Shall I take a pump and pressure gauge and adjust the pressures when there? BBC reckons clear conditions for Monday and around 14 C. What is the rule of thumb for pressures or will they talk about that in the briefing?

Should I check my oil is right up to 100% on the dip stick and take some just in case? It's only 30 minutes each session so not I'm hammering round all day.

Cheers

I would check all of the fluids and oil, it might only be 30 minutes but the basics should not be ignored.

Take a pump with you and adjust tyre pressure when you are there.

Have fun!

I have a friend going with his M5 - his first time too.
Hi mate - was that you who I spoke to at the track today? Someone working for Silverstone saw this post and said hello!

There seemed to be a fair few people on the pit wall taking pics today - anyone got a mate who might have been there?

Was an incredible day, my Exige slid through the field like a hot knife through butter. Loved the national circuit!

Not me i'm afraid - I had to work unfortunately. I had a friend there in his M5 who had a great time too. I have only done the International circuit but the whole place is fantastic.

Sounds like you had fun!
What colour was it?

I battled a black M5 and black Z4 Coupe. I was quicker than them lap time wise, with the M5 on my arse down Wellington straight. But I left them for dead in Luffield and Copse. I eventually let them go when we got to some traffic as we were running nose to tail for over 5 laps, it was getting silly! But "good fun silly" if ya know what I mean.

Got my apex speed at Copse to about 85mph. Enough to get my attention anyway! Car was absolutely screaming round the lap!

I was there today, first time on a track day.

Had a great time and learnt a lot - most notably that there's a lot more time to come from the driver rather than the car!

Felt very sorry for the chap who binned his TVR at Copse in the last session, glad to see he was ok.
Oh bugger! What time was that? Did he lose it on the exit rumble strips? You'd have to be carrying mental speed to make it to a barrier I felt as I got to grips with it (literally)

I was out in the 1.35 and 2.45 - loved it

Which Z4? E86 (old shape), or E89 (new shape)?
Umm is was the old shape and black (coupe). I spent pretty much the whole 1.35 session with it and a black BMW saloon. You'd have recognised my red Exige in the pic above if it was me smile

A new shape black Z4 moved back onto the line before Copse as I went to overtake him! I took to the rumble strips before the braking zone at over 100mph!
