I've just bought a S2000, I would like to do a trackday with lots of runoff, so I can get to grips to what it's capable of?

My problem is it has a full Miltek exhaust system which sounds lovely, but I feel it's going to be too loud for most tracks, especially at 9K RPM!!

I live in the south west which gives little options, but to travel to other end of country! Am happy to travel around 3H.

I would like to do Bedford, but feel I may be a bit too loud?

Does anyone have any experience with the S2000 with a full exhaust, and what DB it's measuring at?

Cheers

Cheers, I'm pretty sure it's de-catted!

I think it's got a small mid silencer, then one rear silencer with two big tailpipes.

It's not stupidly loud, I would say on par with something like a BMW M3 CSL.

I've just come across these, do these actually work? Worth a go?

I measured it earlier on my iPhone, so not accurate, but it's measuring 90db at idle, so is it likely to be 10X louder at 9K RPM?

Or what about one of these each side? Ok it may look a bit silly, but these must surely bring the level down a decent amount?

Great, cheers guys.

I think I will give hullavington in Chippenham a go for a first, as not far from me, loads of runoff by the looks, and should easily pass 100db at 4500rpm. Are there drive by sensors here? Or just static? As can only find static limits?

I will then see what reading I get to see if I need to do anything before going to somewhere like Bedford.

Have just booked Abington on 6/12 as can't make hullavington next Friday.

Does MSE generally not have many days, or is it because it's end of the year?

Just read the terms, it's actually 3/4 maximum revs for Vtec engined cars!
So 9k max revs, I make this just over 5.5K revs, which I imagine I should be ok with.

Gives me a few weeks to get the car ready!

Oops, I even used a calculator!!

Interesting regarding Vtec, will give it a try, but is it not 6K revs when Vtec kicks in?

Not sure if this is too useful, but I had a noise test at 4500rpm on a bone-stock S2000 at Castle Coombe and got a rather pathetic 80dB...

I did a thread a few moths ago about my first track day in my S. Great fun - hope you have as much fun in yours!

Tell me more about the Milltek... I've been interested for a while in an upgrade - is it *much* noisier than standard? Do you get much drone from it?

Great, I should be ok then, 100db I believe is hell of a lot louder than 80!

I'm not sure what it's like compared to the standard, but it does not drone while cruising, just gives a nice sharp growl on hard acceleration, then sounds a race car once into vtec!

I have checked there are no cats fitted, goes from a 4/-2-1 mani to a mid silencer, then rear silencer which splits into 2 with a small silencer on each tail.

I will try and get a video of it.

I was tempted to go for castle comb as is much closer to me, but decided too much to crash into for a first play!
