My first trackday there booked. Anyone else going & any advice very welcome.

Fairly experienced trackday driver with tweaked 911 Turbo for reference.

I will have my HD Contour camera & AIM data logger on, plus my friend is taking my trackday tyres (AD08) on his trailer with his GT2, so my car will be on road tyres for the journey/wet.

Been told about Eau Rouge at the top & seen it first hand at F1.

Also grown up watching F1 on board shots through Pouhon, so can't wait.

Will be taking my sensible head to make sure I bring the Turbo home in 1 piece.

I'll be there in my clio 200 cup along with a 182 and a 182 Trophy. Not the best cars for the track, but really enjoyed it last year! Hopefully the weather will be ok.
Come say Hi. Seal Grey 996 Turbo & the GT2 is a white beast, who's driver is a Spa regular.

Not sure who the trackday is with, but if there are instructors on hand early in the day or better still 1st thing, get one onboard even if it's only for a 20 min stint.
I instruct there for a few of the oeganisers that run events at Spa.
So many parts of the circuit can catch you out big time if you don't understand the quirts of the place. Also it will make the rest of the day so much more fun.
Also keep a good check on tyre pressures wet or dry.
Otherwise enjoy it. It is a fabulous circuit, and if you get a chance anytime outside of the trackday, go for a drive around the old road circuit and imagine F-1 and big sports-cars thundering around there at flat-chat for most of the circuit.
Cheers, it's Goldtrack.

Instructors are bookable, but not erm, free. Done a few seasons bike racing & pretty decent at picking up new circuits.

Always have a good tyre pressure gauge & inflator on hand.

How abrasive is the circuit Doogalman?

Your familiarisation is free. Email me if you haven't already got it.
I have my booking confirmation thanks Mel. Any issues with cameras & passengers on the day? We have a few friends along for the trip.

Thanks for the offer of the induction/familiarisation.

I have a tiny Contour HD (like a bullet cam), which has a decent mount, which I'll have fixed in the car with me.

I'll no doubt start watching a lot of youtube vids in due course.

Quite a few of us staying at Hotel de La Source the night before.

Glad I'm not the only Spa virgin.

Car is packed & ready, insurance via Moris £168, heading off this afternoon to get the big boat from Hull this eve. Steady drive tomorrow, weather forecast great, so will fit the AD08's & walk the track & try meet some of the Goldtrack folks & others tomorrow afternoon. Really looking forward to this now. I'll be mostly wearing PH shirts, black Arai, Grey 911 Turbo & of course I look like a powerfully built company Director wink

Booked in for Thursday, first time at Spa. If you see a biblically slow Noble give me a wave as you go by! smile
We have to leave mid afternoon to catch the overnight ferry back so wont be there Thursday. Forecast looks decidedly none Noble friendly for Thursday at the moment. Stay safe & have fun.

It was magic. Saw 27C displayed in the car.

Managed to do 2m 58's on my first day at Spa, happy with that, even though no-one was using any timing equipment at all!

Had great fun playing with the 15 plate UK Speciale, my beetle was quicker down the straight, but couldnt live with his braking/turn in, very impressive machine. Also had fun chasing down the white 997 GT2, the blue 997 GT3 too.

Highly recommend anyone who is thinking about Spa to go. I guess we were spectacularly lucky with the weather & I dont think there were any major incidents. There was a red flag just before lunch though. Anyone know what happened?

Was gutted the Backdraft Motorsport GT3 Viper cravked its diff casing & prevented me from getting some passenger laps.

That's very good going for a first visit.

I was having fun dicing with a friend in his rented 991 GT3. Looking at the videos my fastest in the 996 was a 2.53:01...just needed a few hundredths for a 2.52 time.

Ah, I was chatting to you about your damper change after your ring trip. Henrik caught me out in the RAR car as I was expecting to see his 964! It was a pleasure to meet you. Not sure it would be easy to drop another 6 seconds off my laptime, but the problem was getting a clear lap in, but I was definitely improving on a number of the really challenging corners.
