Silverstone GP Mon 16th November ? Any other PH`ers going ?
Discussion
I`ve never done the new GP layout, I only drove the old one once and that was years ago when my Golf was far less powerful and developed than it is now.
Looking forward to seeing how it goes on the GP circuit.
It`s a Circuit Days day, Open Pitlane obviously.
I saw sumo69 said he was going in the other Silverstone thread. Anyone else going ?

Yeah that`s the car, I`ve done Bedford a few times and Thruxton once a few years ago. Car was N/A then, I had one of the biggest spins I`ve ever have going through Church there, Jeez that corner is quick !HaylingJag said:
been reading up on your 'Ring adventures and would be good to see you and your Golf in the flesh.
Come say hello, Swedish flag will be flying from one of the garages
I`ll keep my eye our for the flag Come say hello, Swedish flag will be flying from one of the garages
Looks like a good mix of cars will be there, I`m really looking forward to it !
I haven`t looked at the Forecast. Experience tells me it could say rain yet the circuit could be dry all day !
Rang Silverstone to see if I could go down on Sunday and leave the trailer in the circuit, no joy, which is a shame. Pretty much every other circuit I`ve been to has allowed it but they said no.
Hey ho.
See you there Monday morning ! I`ll be the one with a big grin on my face

Well, that didn`t go as planned
Drive flange sheared on the gearbox, never had that before. Unfortunately it was on lap 3...
What made it worse was the conditions, it was bloody perfect ! Dry, cool and no queuing apart from a short sting in the afternoon when the car dropped fluid.
I WILL be going again, Spoke to Chris at Circuit days and they are planning on doing another Silverstone GP early next year, so I`ll start another thread when I know the days and try again
I do apologise to those of you who tried talking to me, fortunately, you all seemed to understand when I said `please, don`t take offense but I don`t want to talk right now`. I wasn`t having a particularly good day.....
Managed to jack out the drive flange with 4 bolts and sockets.
Once out, the problem was obvious
The end had sheared off, leaving the circlip in the diff. This is pretty odd, that part doesn`t take any load and as the broken off end is where it should be, I don`t believe the flange had come out a bit THEN sheared.
What made it worse was, I had spares. At home..
Todays job is to inspect for spline damage in the diff, if it`s all OK I`ll refit a spare output flange and get it back on the trailer ready for Brands in 2 weeks.
