TVR rebuild complete, and whilst i have never intended it to be a track car, it seems the best way to bed in my new brakes and suspension.

I took it to Castle Coombe and it tested 112db at 5k rpm.

Is there a track in the UK that i can go on without being chased off the grounds by the local nimby's ?

Its a standard exhaust with a sleeved mid section.

In all honesty, i think the tester might have been a bit of a fool. But those are the numbers he gave me.

If it wont pass as it is, Or have some bolt on silencers. i wont go on track.

5K revs is surely too high.

It's supposed to be 3/4 revs - so should be a bit lower than that..
That is what i thought and felt bad holding 5k rpm in neutral. the car did let out a huge pop as i let off the revs. Maybe that skewed the results.

I'm getting confused here - I thought the OP had a Chimaera
My mistake, the OP has been on the Cerb forum recently because he is looking to move to a Cerb.
Indeed, Still with the Rover V8 here.

I think i might have got a job's worth doing the test. The did direct me to Merlin motorsport to try some bolt on silencers and come back and try the test again. I declined and went home.

The chimaera has two per-cats, a main cat. Then a silencer before splitting back out to two exit pipes.

Pr-cat's have been removed. Main cat is still in place and the silencer has been sleeved (Making it less silencing)

It is a common mod and makes the car sound much better, and in all honesty. Not that much louder.

Others getting around 105db sounds about right to me. Might see if i can swing by Silverstone.

The centre silencer is really the only silencer on the car, by sleeving it you may not pass any noise tests anywhere even when tested fairly.
Its ok. The car has covered about 200 miles this year. 20 of them this morning. Cold, sunny, country roads. pops and bangs. V8

My cheeks hurt from smiling.
