MX5 mk2 std spec OK for track?

Hi guys
As title, looking for a cheap track car for the misses and me and wondered whether a MX5 in standard format would do and be fairly reliable.
Limits will be lower than dedicated one buts it's fun I'm after

So it seems that what I have to look for is not a shagged example but a reasonable mileage mechanical sound one.

Get a CG-Lock for belt ,rollover/half cage and decent brakes but nothing too fancy then to go fast get some instruction.

The Mk2 MX-5 that also went was passed around like a tray of soft biscuits at an old folks home and drove consistently all day, sliding and bobbing around like you just can't do in an average hatchback.
