Silverstone This Weekend - "Informal" Spectators?

Hi all. Passing Silverstone tomorrow and thought we'd pop in to see if there was anything on and understand there is a track day on the National circuit. We're only passing but the kids have started to take a real interest in cars/motorsport so would love to watch some cars on the track even if its just for 10 minutes/staring through a fence. Does anyone know if there is a place near the museum for example where you can have a watch for a few minutes???

Best option I had was to pay 25 quid each to get museum access and watch from the old track (?) as the fella on the door said "some Corsas on the track". Tempting as that was, I declined their kind offer and continued on my journey to Dorset 😂
