There is due to be a track day here on Sat 1st April, but they are looking at cancelling due to lack of numbers (mainly becasue they've only just sorted out their dates and their advertising is )

I've spoke to Pauline at Lydden today and she's said if they can get a total of 30 cars they'll let it run (which will mean lots of track time)

If anyones interested post up here and give Paul;ine a ring on 01304 830557.

Web address is www.lyddenracecircuit.co.uk/home.htm

It runs from 9 til 5 and is £120 for the whole day.

I'm real eager to attend so get the season started on a high.

Thanx, Ben

Not sure.
May depend on numbers and at the mo they are short so possibly.
Give Pauline a ring and she'll be able to give you all the info you need.
Thanx, Ben

Gotchya.
There is a Semsec practice day on 25th March (this saturday) and that is race license holders only.
But the 1st April is a track day open to anyone with a normal driving license.

does that mean everybody is super quick? Im in a westfield so should not be too bad, but if its full or aero'ed up racers then its going to be a bit uncomfortable

Not at all.
There might be some race prepped cars there, but none that I've heard of as of yet.
I drive a pulsar, in which a westy should drive right around me here, but kept my own in a fast class.
There's usually a real range of cars but always seems to be plenty of space on the track.

I was out on those sessions with Pat Doran's rally x fiesta. Woo!

Lydden does tend to destroy n/s/f tyres.
Might be worth having a swap around at lunch so you can still have a full set of tyres by the end of the day.

i dont have a trailer so spare wheels/tyres usually stay at home. Might try strapping them to the roll cage though...

Sorry, meant putting the rears on the front and vice versa.
Weather is meant to be dry, with some cloud, can't argue with that.
Has anyone actually booked in, as I spoke to Lydden yesterday morning and there still weren't that many booked in?
Thanx, Ben.

Last time overtaking was allowed either side, on corners, everywhere really as long as you are not dangerous.
This was because the majority were track cars so usual trackday rules weren't appropriate.
This makes for a lot better track day though, as long as no-one is stupid.
I thought signing was 8 and the track opens at 9?
Anyway i'll be there early doors.
If you need a jack or anything I'll have everything needed as got a spare car coming along with tools etc.
I'll be in a white pulsar.
See ya then, Ben

How much power are you running then Jay? pretty quick on the straights I noticed.
Martin

Running about 280 bhp @ the fly, so not a great deal. But you can fly by people if you get Chessons drift right, but i've destroyed my front tyres by lunch, the n/s/r was losing chunks off it and in places had gone down to the cords!

The right hander after the start and finish straight.
After it turns in tight then just drifts round to the right.
If you get trhe power on just as it dips and get the apex where it tightens up you can keep the power down all the way round.
As you come out of the dip it'll throw you to the outside a little and then just let the power drag you too the outside of the track.
Excellent feeling of satisfaction getting it right but you can hear/feel that your tyres are fighting hard all the way round.

Yeah mines 4wd but still got the same scenario with the corner dragging me to the trackside, the bumps twitchin the wheel, and I was changing up into 4th mid way round too.
Love the sensation of planting the power in the dip of the corner and as I hit the brow, as the corner opens up, the car steps across the track where its kind of leaping of the track. Funny.
I was running consistant 49's and 50's with best timed lap of 48.2.
How bout you?
