Work experience on CV

Hi, looking for a bit of advice from everyone.
I'm currently trying to change career and I've been carrying out unpaid work experience in the new field. I currently have it added on my cv under the general introduction section and skills but I think it may be getting overlooked by potential employers so I was thinking of adding it to my employment experience section along with my current role?
Do you think this will make any difference or will it make it look like I've got far more experience than I do which may get me in bother at interview stage?
