Afternoon all

I'm looking into the possibility of taking a course to try and help further my career in the insurance sector, and just wanted some feedback on anyone who may have done similar. How long does the course take? Do you need to go anywhere for any teachings or for the exam? How well recognised in the industry are the CII qualifications, or are there any alternatives I should look for that are better recognised. Things like that really.

I've neevr done any sort of further education since leaving college at 18, 14 years ago, so any advice/feedback/opinions would be welcome.

Thanks

Hi Jon

Thanks for the reply. I work for a small broker doing specialist private car and commercial insurance.

Sounds like it is worth doing and quite an important qualification. I think I'll start making plans to get going on it.

I'm also completing my ACII - similar age to you and I'm about halfway through. Not always easy studying on top of work, but you definitely want to stay in insurance I'd say it's essential. The good thing about the modular structure is you can choose the timescale you take to complete it and which modules are most relevant to the area you want to work in.

Per Jon's comment, many firms (on the commercial side, at least) will pay for your study materials and first exam for each section.

Feel free to PM me if you want any more info!
Thanks YHM.
