What qualifications do I need?
Discussion
Hi Folks
I'm looking at having a total change of career and setting up a property company. I'm planning to start off small whilst still keeping my current job by doing up a few small properties & then either selling them on or renting them out. I'm pretty handy on the DIY front as having a 120 year old cottage means you have to be! Over the years I've tackled most stuff from installing central heating, bathroom, kitchen, various electrical projects & building/joinery work. My other half has retail shops which I've had to shop fit over the years to so I'm confident I can work to a good standard but I realise if I start to do this seriously I'm going to need to get some qualifications.
My initial thoughts are some form of Electrical qualification to allow me to install & certify domestic work + a gas/central heating qualification. I know I could hire people to do this & just manage the projects but part of the career change is about me actually doing something practical rather than sitting in an office as I do at the moment!
Any thoughts on the best type of qualifications to look for would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
James
