I'm wondering if anybody has suggestions for motorsport/automotive engineering places to apply for a year long student placement? I'm currently in my second year of study for a Motorsport Engineering degree, but unfortunately all of the mechanical engineering placements posted on my university job board just seem to be environmental/energy related.

So far I have applied to;

McLaren (F1 team)
Williams
Mercedes AMG HPP
Xtrac
Ford
Ricardo

I'm soon going to apply to;

Bentley
M-Sport
RLE

Any other suggestions would be fantastic, as it's getting late in the year now! The only people to get back to me so far have been Merc AMG HPP who I recently had an interview with. The Jaguar Land Rover deadline has already passed unfortunately.

Cheers all smile

Try Intertek in Milton Keynes, they used to be Tickford and they do a lot of engine testing.
Thanks, I'll give them a try!

I had a class mate who worked at Red Bull F1 for their placement year, you tried them?
Forgot about Red Bull, I've already applied to them also!

Nissan have just opened applications for their Cranfield engineering centre, caterpillar(Perkins), ford, mahle and cummins are also still open.
Quite late on to be starting applications (I had interviews in November, accepted an offer start of Feb) but you should still able to find somewhere, good luck!
Thanks for those suggestions, I'll give them a try.

It is very late now. My aim was to get into an F1 team; I was convinced I had everything required to get a placement with one (lots of motorsport work experience, currently averaging a 1st, good A levels etc etc). Those got applied to nice and early, but I haven't had any replies, so I'm now left stuck now trying to find something decent in a short space of time paperbag

Well done on securing a placement so soon, cheers!

Any other suggestions for automotive companies still offering placements at this stage? I have a mate who is still struggling, he's also studying Motorsport Engineering. Thanks smile

Thanks, they're closed now though. They do assist, but seem to get many generic mech eng placements through, lots of energy companies, but aren't great with Automotive placements.
