Hi all

Got an interview at my current place of work for a senior position, ive worked hard and told them i want the job.

Problem is after telling them and others i want this job ive just been contacted by another company wanting to discuss a job offer which will pay more.

Now is it immoral, that if i got offered the job at my place i initially accepted until i spoke to this other company as i cant make the decision in 2 days

So accept the offer if offered and then get in negotiations with the other company and then possibly tell my boss one month down the line ive changed my mind?

The company i would be leaving supplies this area so ideally would not want to burn bridges

The job i would go to would have me deskilling and doing travelling couple of days a week but is about 7000 more a year so i was thinking of doing it while im young

My main concern is burning bridges but im not going to be able to know the other jobs contract is ok and everything for at least a few weeks

Is that not burning bridges though at that will take about a month and they would have to readvertise

Well i dont know what my future plans are but obviously they supply this region

Of course for most people money has to be a factor, but having a job that you enjoy working with good people is worth an awful lot!!

Well i wont be speaking to this other employer until after my interview so i could say i got approached afterwards

Well the job will be more boring but itll be an easier/hell of a lot less stressfull job but travelling, 3 days away from home 4 days at home

My point being, could you speak to your current employer about matching (or nearly matching) the salary on offer from the other company and you'd be happy to stay?

I know what the pay is like at my company they pay low in comparison to the competing company so they would not match the other salary.

Job wise i dont know to be honest one is worse paid/more stressfull but close to home, the other is better paid easier but most likely more boring and i would travel 3 days and home for 4

What is the difference in salary? Are we talking £1-2k, or is it more like 20% difference?

Were talking about 6k plus a company car so less wear and tear on my own car, plus the overtime rates are better and i work 3 long days a week as opposed to 2 short 2 long
