I'm really after some advice/direction from fellow PHers.

Background: 24, marketing graduate, stuck in field sales, hate it, not a fan of marketing either. Can't sit at a desk 9-5 staring at a screen.

My main interests:

Gym/fitness (qualified personal trainer)
Outdoors

I worked as a personal trainer part time but this is nearly impossible full time with mortgage, bills etc as it's just so unpredictable and insecure.

Does anyone know any potential careers/new directions that may be suitable? I have exhausted all job sites and just keep getting calls of agencies about sales jobs. NO THANKS!

My local police force are recruiting PCSOs next month - I am tempted to apply although it would be a decrease in salary. I'm ok with that but need to find out more before applying.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

Yeah I will definitely apply. They also do a graduate fast track scheme now. Wouldn't be until summer 2016 now, but PCSO would be good before that regardless.

If you have skills training people and sales ability, why not look at sales and marketing consultancy? You'd be surprised how many SMEs, particularly those who are experiencing growth, don't have the in-house skills to set up the sales function to be scalable and properly accountable.

Yes, it takes time to build up a client base, but this is just, erm, marketing!
That would be Interesting. How willing are firms when the consultant is younger than most of the people they'd be training? I know the proof of the pudding is in the eating, but I can imagine the whole 'how will you be able to help? I could be your dad' etc

Don't worry about your age, concentrate on your skills. There are many, many small business owners out there with fledgling sales teams who need structure and skills putting in place to make their operations scalable. These owners listen to conversations about bottom line. All things being equal, it doesn't matter whether you're 23 or 63, if you can improve the efficiency of the sales operation to deliver demonstrable improvements to revenue and profit, people will pay to get it.
Thanks smile
