Contract work ideas...
Discussion
Hi all
Having a bit of a brainstorm.
I'm looking for ideas of contractor-type jobs (1-12 months) which pay a reasonable amount (£20ph/£200pd +) but actually only require one of the following:
-Degree (Engineering) & Experience
-Degree, Experience (within Engineering) and a reasonably short course (ie. Prince2?)
-Completion of a relatively short full or part time course on its own.
Training cost isn't important, and I'm in engineering already but broadening my horizons for security and convenience sake - so ideas in other industries (ie. healthcare) welcome.

Automotive, mostly a project engineer with some experience in vehicle testing/assessment and race engineering experience.
Some experience with web & app design - but I really don't fancy that full time.
Previously a technician, I've been at engineer level for 2 years.
Automotive Engineering degree.
These days my role is mostly project management/resource management.
But I'm open to anything, just looking for ideas. Could be outside of engineering all together and preferably away from a large manufacturer based in the Midlands.
Im not really looking for automotive engineering ideas, but something that could be tackled with perhaps some short retraining that pays a good hourly rate.

Do any of those things entail any actual engineering? In here a ‘project engineer’ is a spreadsheet jockey, the sort of person that knows dick about engineering, yet feels they can stoat about telling actual engineers how long it should take to do a job!
I’m probably not going to be able to advise anything useful then, other than check out Matchtech and see what they have on offer, fire them a CV and they’ll probably give you a call.
£20/hr contract isn’t much of a rate, especially not for something fairly short term.
As I said originally, i'm not looking to necessarily stay in engineering.
In essence you've just had a dig at my current position and belittled it, followed by telling me to go to a recruitment agency for more of the same work (not read the post) and proceeded to tell me what rate I would be happy with. Thanks.
