4 Weeks off work and wanting to earn some extra money

Hi, I'm after some advice and hoping the PH masses can help.

I'm currently serving in the Army and I will be in the fortunate position of having 4 weeks off in December. I'm expecting my first child on the way March 17 and I'm looking to earn a few extra pennies.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what I could do to earn some money by working for a short period? I was thinking of courier driving as I believe this will be in high demand running up to Christmas however do not have much knowledge on this subject ie. Will i require my own van etc...

Finally I currently earn 30k per annum, how would I go about paying tax and would it affect my salary in the future?
