30+ Years in Uniform, now I need a 'Proper' job! CV Views.
Discussion
Chaps,
I am approaching the end of a long and successful career in the Armed Forces. As I approach resettlement there is plenty of help available, but I'd really value a commercially-minded opinion of my first attempt at a CV.
I realise that there are pretty frequent requests for help of this nature so won't be at all offended if I'm given a stiff ignoring, but I'd very much appreciate views.
If anyone is prepared to cast an eye over it for me, I'll PM it to you. I'm not absolutely sure of what I'll be pitching for, but I do want a grown-up and well-rewarded leadership role. I'm flexible on location and am likely to move to the job rather than fix myself geographically.
Obviously I can provide more detail by message if required, but in the first instance a sense of whether or not I'm on the right lines would be very helpful. Any takers please?

Get the OA to recommend some networking groups to go to. If you are around Bristol, then the Alma is very good. It is your network that is going to get you your next role.

Leadership in a civilian company is completely different to leadership in the forces. Not saying you cant do it or can't adapt, but it is a completely different skill.
Depends on the company, some are still very command and control Also in Business to Business services, if you are selling into defence based companies and/or MoD, etc, it can be a massive asset as there can be immediate credibility.
Delighted to cast an eye over it and provide feedback; message me, I respond and then you attach.
Whilst I'll be able to look at style and formatting; to do it properly I will need some insights in to:
- your current rank and Arm or Service
- salary expectation
- what you definitely don't want to do (either by role or industry)
- what you'd love to do (either by role or industry)
- any constraints at all in terms of location and ideal length of commute
It's what I do and have deep insights in to military personnel moving in to the civilian work place. I trust you're exploiting all that's available from your resettlement package, including CV reviews, job fairs etc?

Thank you to all that have assisted, directly or otherwise. I have learned a lot already and very much appreciate the time taken to give me positive steers.
It has been really interesting to get outside views on such a personal, albeit immature, product and I've learned a lot. There is, clearly, some way to go yet but the support freely offered by people that don't know me and have no vested interest in helping has been rather heart-warming. Thanks again.
