Im about 2500 miles into my M135 ownership and have a tyre question.

firstly i know the car should have supersports on it. and mine came with runflats. that is something im stuck with for now until they wear out and i replace them with the proper tyres.

However i am now faced with the prospect of snow/ice driving on runflats.

am i better off getting some winter boots on the car to tide me over the crappy months and avoid smashing up my new toy or are the supersports good in ice/snow.

i dont want to waste the runflats as it doesnt make financial sence but putting winter boots on in the near future would effectivley prolong the date i can bin the runflats even longer.

not sure what to so for the best. what i dont want to do is find out runflats are even more useless in the ice than normal tyres and get myself into any bother with the local ditches!

can anyone who has driven the M135I in winter with runflats and or winter tyres comment on this.

cheers
Jim.

my main thought is ive heard so many times on here "never ever fit anything other than supersports to the car". if that statement is correct then that would seem the advise is that winter tyres should not be fitted.

As i have neither and have crappy runflats i dont know whats best to do. limp along with runflats and replace ASAP with supersports or buy winter tyres and be stuck with runflats for longer when i change them back.

Thanks for all the input guys, so in summary after calling round a few tyre dealers and realising there is bugger all in 245/35/18 winter is it ok to go 225/40/18 all round on the winter tyres.

I really dont want to spend £1500 on a wheel and tyre package so need options on standard rims.

Moving house so budget is limited by the wifes furniture shopping!
