Just a note to say that this car may be appearing for sale at Sytner over the coming weeks, I traded it in yesterday against a 340i touring.
Mechanically the car was sound, always kept in warranty and any problems that occurred were always addressed. Over xmas its had an oil service plus a few bits of warranty work done. Tyres and brakes are good all round, brake fluid was done in September. The only downsides are cosmetic, some prick in a B&Q car park put a sizeable ding in the drivers door and I grazed the rear bumper on a stone wall trying to reverse out of a parking space after someone had blocked me in.
Hope it finds a good home!

Maybe it's the one advertised on PH by Sytner Nottingham for 21K, advert went live yesterday no photos yet.
Why did you decide to chop it in for a 340? Suspect the 340 is a lot easier to drive and live with!
Yes that will almost certainly be my car, assuming they sort the cosmetic bits I'd say that's a pretty reasonable price that its being offered for.Why did you decide to chop it in for a 340? Suspect the 340 is a lot easier to drive and live with!
I was coming up to 8 years ownership (this was my second) the car had 86k on it and with the miles I do I'd be hitting the 100k mark over the next 12-15 months which would significantly impact the warranty costs. Regardless of your opinion on having a BMW warranty, the car has had in my ownership new throttle actuators, starter motor, dsc control unit, diff seals, tail gate switch, throttle position sensors and pressure sensors - all in all its cost me about £3500 in warranty payments/excess charges, the cost of that work as a main dealer is well over £7k (starter motor was an eye watering cost due to the 11 or so hours of labour, dsc unit itself was over £1700) Aside from fixing things I was coming to the conclusion that my regular monthly running costs were also getting silly, £300+ on petrol, £90 on warranty, £45 on tax... totted up its pretty much on a par for what I'm paying monthly for the 340.
I also fancied a change and wanted something a bit more relaxed. Loving the 340 so far, its no M car and I don't think it pretends to be, however for the journeys I make its just as capable as the M5 was.
