Needs some fettling, especially the steering, but once its in the garage, the engine is coming out and the steering sortied.

Throttle bodies need synching, and a whole host of other little bits. I've budgeted 5k to get it back to where it should be...watch this space ....

Dampers will go off to be refurbed, need to get it on a ramp to have a good poke. Running gear is strong (Probably why i got nicked for speeding bringing it home biggrin )

The intention is to pull the engine and go right through every bit and get it right.

There's no hurry, it was bought as a toy. New double garage soon (There's a house with it apparently) so once its in, the spanners will come out. Looking forward to it.

Best of luck with it! Great cars, with IMO the best engine BMW have put in one of their own road cars in the last 30 years
After a little run through the countryside just now with a few forays into 7k territory, i'm inclined to agree biggrin.

Looks like steering boxes are no longer available, so shall contact ZF to see if they'll recon it.

Well, after being a bit busy with a house move, finally got the steering sorted.

Refurbed box by Holman Engineering.

New drag and track ends courtesy of BMW

Oil and filter service with gen filters and Castrols finest.

And a cure for the rough tick over discovered.

The project continues....

There's a company in Poland. Google BMW edc refurb. Steering is heaven, I can now use the wheel to change direction rather than sending the front a text.

Let us know how you get on with it please
Will do, although I don't expect much trouble. It's had a couple of good hidings since, and is definitely running quieter . Not sure what the pissy stuff that was in it was mind.

Thanks for that roofer, I'll be checking that out tonight!

My steering is possessed and it needs to be fixed before the car kills me or I kill the car!
A lot of people mess about with the pre load screw on the top of the box, Holman said they wouldn't touch the box if this had been disturbed.

It was an absolute bd to get out with the engine in, the heat shield took nearly 2 hours on its own. I have left that much skin in the engine bay they could use it to give Jordan an uplift in cup size ! But it was definitely worth it. If the worm and nut has gone, they're 700 quid from ZF, but I was prepared to buy a new box from BMW for £1100, glad they stopped making them now !

Bad news on the box. How much the shocks ? I was thinking of chucking mine in a suitcase and flying into Gdansk. £44 return !
