Hi all. I posted a related message along these lines previously when, for a fleeting moment, I was considering selling my 06 plate E46 M3 CS. I feared its 118k miles could mean the engine was not long for this world, so asked if anyone had higher absolute mileage figures. Many did (some much higher), which was good to know.

That earlier discussion dealt with absolute mileage regardless of car age. My car is a May 06 registered unit, so it's clocked up an average of 14,300 miles per year (118k / 8.25 years). I assume this is fairly high.
I'm just interested to know....has anyone else got an M car with a higher average mileage per year figure?

In the time I've owned the car, it's gone through 2 pairs of rear springs, needed a new SMG gear selector and had a faulty brake pressure sensor (so I just replaced both for good measure). Other than that, it's been 33,000 pretty trouble free miles. What are the experiences of others with high average mileage Ms? Conversely, have you had any low mileage 'dogs'?

I take the car to a well known local specialist. He said something along the lines of 'the engine tends to let go on the e46 around 100k' a while back. I guess he's seen his fair share, so it isn't total BS.

Sort of…..bought mine last year with 27,000 on the clock (04 plate E46 M3). 18 months later she is sitting at just under 60,000. I've clocked more miles in 18 months than she did in the first 9 years of life.
So you paid top dollar for a low mileage example, then promptly used it (presumably) every day for many miles.

Pray tell,.....why? Tour of europe?
