Until the first corner !
Dont think anyone in their right mind would expect the M5 to keep up in corners - the thing for me was i was shocked it kept up in a straight line....

Whereas slightly interesting, these comparisons are almost entirely pointless. This type of "race" is engineered to favour (relatively) the M5 - rolling start, straight line. In any real world test the GTR is noticeably faster - it puts the power down at low speed, brakes faster and will leave the M5 standing as soon as you get to a decent curve. Anyone who claims the M5 is faster than a GTR based on this video has a very narrow definition of speed.

However, unless you are a track regular (in which case either of these cars is hardly the best choice) the areas where these differences matter are very infrequent. On the road, the GTR suits those who like the traffic light drag race (and based on my experiences, there are quite a few people who do) but other wise you are unlikely to split the performance without seriously endangering lives.

Where the M5 excels is being able to deliver more than enough speed, control and excitement whilst also being able to comfortably cruise, carry 5 and decent luggage - these are precisely the reasons I traded my GTR for the M5. Both are great performers, but the m5 (for me and my lifestyle) is a better car.

You on the V10 M5? have fancied the M6 put just cant bring myself to the 10-12mpg redface

I know you dont expect a lot but that is just mental - currently got a E46 cab - 79mph on motorway other day for 150 miles - 31.5mpg smile -

The E46 is impressive economy wise but even at the speed the V10's will get 25mpg.

Besides, these cars are not built for fuel economy.
I understand that, I didnt buy the M3 for that reason, its just nice to know you dont have to fill up every 140 miles
