In my quest for an e60 M5 i test drove today an 06,93k on clock, full BMW history up to 89k.car immaculate & appears to have been cared for somewhat...i drove it on normal p400 for while then proceeded to p500... to my horror engine light on dash, into idrive when pulled i over & "engine failure-reduced power".
The owner beside me nervously assured me that it was just a sensor....!!i
I assured him i was gone,GOODBYE.
Anyone any POSITIVE ideas as to what the cause maybe...is it as serious as death.??

Hey lads,
I started this topic a couple of weeks ago & the response has been very informative & helpful, thanks to who contributed.
With your help I have decided to not go for a high miler instead go mid miles mid price after all its going to be weekender car.Anyway there are 2 cars I'm interested in after millions of pages & phone-calls & several test drives.
1st guy has it on Autotrader;Grey 06' has it at 16995ono.1 owner 59k miles...the ad itself somewhat corny at least, not sure where he lives & have'nt been able to contact him even though I have mailed him 3 times through Autotrader, why because I live in Southern Ireland & phonesafe will not work from my area,I have contacted Autotrader about this & to no avail,he has'nt seemed to have received my mail !! I don't know..strange but true. If someone can make contact through phonesafe & pass his mobile on to me I'd be grateful.

The other 1 is a dealer is on this site from Middlesex;Grey 06' 65000 miles similar price, this car looks better on paper has the work done clutch, flywheel etc.The dealer, well his colleague said on the phone he unfortunately could'nt take less for a straight deal...Hmmm.
Anyone know of this dealer, the not sure i can mention their name on this forum.

If anyone knows these cars or are in your area,a tall order i'm asking maybe,I would again appreciate your help in my quest & would save a perhaps unfruitful trip, otherwise i would gladly take the advice & the flight to happily purchase, don't ask i just like Grey in colour...not flash maybe.

Regardless any positive info would helpful.Thanks.

Thanks for that jmbmwm5.Interesting.

Them posts were from 2012,he must be doing something right he's still going.!!

I spoke to him last week no pressure on the phone, although he was'nt prepared to drop too much for a straight deal, couple hundred that was it!!

Seems like a canny bloke trying to make a few quid...hmmm.
