Hi all,

I have only owned my car for a few months and generally not driven it at all in temps below 10 degrees. I drove round for about 10 miles this morning, temp on the gauge was about 100 so I thought I would stick my foot down in 3rd. I got to about 6K RPM and it felt like the rev limited cut in. Visions of what the hell have I done went through my mind.

Is there something such as a cold engine sensor that stops you damaging the engine as I just had not given it time to warm up properly (fingers crossed)

Hi, yeah I don't think anything to do with the cold now. I took it out for an additional 30+ miles, starting off with some high speed dual carriage way to get it warmed up. Problem happened again, but not consistently. By the time I had finished it seemed to have stopped happening, but still worried something isn't quite right.

Everything is fine up to that point, no strange noises or anything like that. It feels exactly like the rev limiter, but if you keep your foot down, after the jerkiness it does keep on pulling up to around 7.5K where I change up. No warning lights on the dash.

Anyone any other ideas what this could be?

Hi, sorry for delay in responding but busy week at work and not driven the car. I use Shell 97. The temp was definitely up to where it should be. TBH I only noticed the rev counter lights actually change recently as just always let it warm up smile Going to go out later tonight and see if the problem has magically gone.
