What are the current cheapest options for OE/OEM parts?

Best I can find is oceanbreeze (Ocean Plymouth dealer) on ebay-

Front discs £379-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BMW-Front-Brake-...

Rear discs £219-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BMW-Rear-Brake-D...

Can't find the same price for the quality anywhere (carparts4less, ecp, bmminiparts, allgermanparts, c3bmw etc.)

I think I have a slightly sticky front caliper but they're harder to come by. Pagid ones are out of stock on cp4l and ecp but are a reasonable ~£130, how soon it would be to get them in stock I don't know.

Also found these-

I hadn't heard of Delco Remy before, are they decent or to be avoided?

That's a decent saving!

Shopping around, if I go for those discs you mentioned, ocean plymouth for the rear discs and pads/sensors from carparts4less I can get the overall parts cost down to ~£650. That's not too shabby I'd say! Who says these were expensive to run. hehe

How much effort/time would it be to rebuild the caliper? It'd be the mechanic doing it and not me so as long as it's still cost effective going off a new caliper price of £130.

Yeah I'll have to speak to the mechanic and see what he's happy doing. Don't suppose you have a link to the correct bleed nipples?

£260 for the pair.

Doesn't matter where you buy them, only one company makes them.

Rear discs

Much cheaper, I figured they're going on the rear and Apec isn't exactly a no name so worth it.
How on earth are those front discs so cheap??

Never used them.
I've just ordered front discs from them there so I'll find out in due course.

Mine were last changed in 2010 going by the paperwork. There is an obvious lip on them now though and they're not the cleanest. I didn't realise the quoted minimum thickness isn't that much different from the new thickness, only 1.6mm of overall wear permissible. (32mm new/30.4mm min.)

Delivered today. Always forget how heavy brake discs are but these are massive.

Jamoor has said only one company makes them, not sure where he got the information though?

Delivery was 20 euros. I was £275 all in including a transaction fee from my bank due to different currency.

I've always been happy enough with the brakes for road use so not bothering with any 'upgraded' pads. I've ordered ATE pads from carpart4less- I seriously doubt there's anything between the likes of them and textar, jurid and pagid.

Pretty sure I got one of the last discs. 'Available' quantity was 1 at the time and I did think I'd better get them now as who knows when they'll be back in stock.

Next day I noticed there was more in stock but that obviously wasn't the case as Depthhoar found out.

Chrome automatically translates the page, it's not perfect but enough to get the information across.

Have you tried Aviva? Come the start of next month my annual policy is down to £360 at 26 with 6 years NCB and it's a daily driver.

I don't see what the big deal is. For road use, I'd argue if the brakes are letting you down you're driving way too hard for the road personally.

The occasional track venture I could understand but even then the ring taxi only had upgraded pads and fluid. Factor in cost with the fact that I've never had an issue in the first place and it'd be a massive waste of money.

Rears up next shortly. The discs are an absolute mess, even in comparison to those old fronts.

I've always been happy with standard pads. Still need a few more miles of bedding them in but the initial bite is already much sharper and the pedal isn't so soft.

Got the rear discs now from that Ocean BMW shop on ebay and they aren't coated like the front ATE ones. I'm curious to see the comparison regarding resistance to corrosion around the circumference between the two types.

Not sure who supplies BMW for the rear discs as ATE only list the fronts in their own parts catalogue.

I meant on the outer edges of the disc that are untouched.
