Any E36 M3 Coupès for sale?
Discussion
In light of the relative success of the similarly titled convertible thread I thought I would have an ask for a Coupè. I know of all the sites on which they come up but does anyone have intentions to sell their Coupè this spring? I really should do the sensible thing and get a Z4 Coupè but I can't get the E36 out of my mind; particularly as a tidy looking Estoril one has appeared on my cycle route to work.
That Dakar has been on since September so I guess gives an idea of the market. It would probably sell at £12k. Only the limited editions are at £15k plus at the moment. There does seem to be a demand but I'm not sure how big it is. Is anyone beyond M3 Cutters, E36Coupe and Pistonheads really looking?

Not yet but I bet you wont lose money if you buy one now. I also bet it wont be long before the speculators start [artificially?] driving prices up.M888SXY said:
Just for anyone interested in how prices have changed I sold my 98 Evo coupe with 81k on the clock, FSH and as mint as they come, for £4750 four years ago!
Wish I hadn't bothered.
Useful input, thanks. Just so you know I would have given you £8k for that tomorrow, and I dare say I'm not alone.Wish I hadn't bothered.

Low mileage E36 M3's are pretty desirable nowdays and always sell quickly, offer too do anything too prise it off your mate!!!
I'm not so sure, there's been a Dakar car with 33k miles I think up with a dealer for a while now, last time I saw the advert it hadn't sold, that was at £15kP

A mint 33k miles dakar Evo coupe, manual is worth £20k.
I'm not sure why this one hasn't sold but it's had paint apparently and non evo wheel so something is amiss,
Seriously? I think you might struggle to find anyone who agrees with you. I certainly don't. People would have been falling over themselves to buy the Kolben one at £15k if that were the case, regardless of paint and a wheel. The only car that I have seen go for £20k plus was the 22k GT II at Munich Legends and that had 22000 on the clock. I'd put an £8k premium on a GT II myself. There's an Estoril one being auctioned at Silverstone today with a reserve of £10k on it. It's done 48k. If we could find out how much that goes for we would get a proper idea of the current market. I mentioned it before but weekday auctions seem an absurd way to sell. I'd have been there chucking some bids in if only they had had it at the weekend. I'm not sure why this one hasn't sold but it's had paint apparently and non evo wheel so something is amiss,

£13400 inc buyers premium. Someone got a steal.
Do you own an E36 as all your posts seem to be talking up the prices of these cars! It looks a good car and that's a reasonable price given the mileage, but a steal? Also £35k for a GT2? There is no way they've gone up 50% in a year.

I don't think anyone would regard £13400 as a steal. There are people on here and Cutters who got E36 M3 Coupès with mileage at around 60k for close to £6k at the end of last year. You do come across as though you have a lock up full of E36s Jonah. Talking up prices whilst you are in the market and when there is a whole host of evidence to the contrary is perverse.
A friend of mine has been looking for a low mileage coupe for a while and he'd love to get a mint cherished one for 6k and 60k miles! Most seem to be well north of 100k wanting loads spending on them chunkster-deluxe said:
Yep, spotted that on eBay last night. The car looks good but a very average advert, no mention of brakes, vanos, suspension or anything specific to rust. In the same neck of the woods as the Dakar Yellow one, i.e. a thoroughly offensive distance from me in London. I've seen some great pictures of techno violet M3s, but those aren't them. The seller should have awaited for a bit of sun.chunkster-deluxe said:

I couldn't see it on eBay. There is a similar one in Bicester with 59k on the clock which I did see on eBay (though it is cat C).Link here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1996-BMW-M3-E36-COUPE-BL...

Interesting thread. I've been keeping my eye on these for a while. I was on the verge buying one about a year ago, sensing that their image was finally on the change. (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1397903). At the time there was a decent selection available (including, I'm sure, the one still at Hexagon classics @ £15k).
I can't see how you can lose much money on these; but equally can't see prices squeezing up massively. While a cool modern classic (in my view) it feels like the ultimate number of people this car will appeal to is still quite small. 2-3 good looking ones have come up in the last week and all are still available. But I could be wrong. No one was interested in porsche 964 5yrs ago... and now look.
Yep, fully agree. There is going to be a limited number of people to whom these appeal. I'd wager that a reasonable proportion of them are on PH and have commented on this thread. There are something like 35 watchers on the Techno Violet on eBay and it has had a few offers so, despite people being interested and there being an obvious increase in demand, people aren't exactly falling over themselves to get one. The only reason I'm not chipping in offers is that I don't want silver / grey leather. I expect most potential buyers have an exact spec that they want and won't deviate.I can't see how you can lose much money on these; but equally can't see prices squeezing up massively. I've just seen one done up in finest South London style on my way back from the gym and, even considering the cosmetic 'improvements', it looked great.

Looks nice, well worth a look if your in the market for one,the AP Racing brake upgrade is well worth having and not cheap on these!
Yeah, the AP kit is desirable and, to me at least, suggests an owner who won't have scrimped on servicing. I've never liked green cars but this one looks ok.mdowning said:
The techno violet one is back up for sale, now in Surrey and £3k more than it was a fortnight ago!
Glad to see it went to an enthusiast
Someone thinks they're clever. Getting a bit ahead of himself though, £8-9k was the right price for that, although the original advert was poor. Glad to see it went to an enthusiast
