Selling the M6
Discussion
So after almost 6yrs of ownership I decided to sell my M6. I changed jobs and moved house and the car just sits there
I bought an old Mondeo a year ago to take stuff to the dump and go to the station in and so the M6 has only done a few hundred miles or so since then, and I really don't want two cars.
The cunning plan is to sell both and get an X5M or the like to fill both duties, so the M6 is up for sale. The only problem is I've only had one person call in the last 4 weeks. It's up for sale here and on AT. It's black and has 86803 miles, can anyone provide some advert feedback and let me know where I'm going wrong? Last Sunday I knocked 500 quid off, but still no joy.
Thanks

Hi,
I am sorry but its too expensive - I know someone posted here its priced well but its not. There is no point trying to pitch your price up against adverts that are their right now from traders, I can tell you right now they have have been there for months and months!!
If you want to sell - you are looking nearer advertising 15,500 and getting around 14,500-15,000!
Just my opinion of course.

Like you I don't drive mine that much anymore. Since my daughter's birth in November, I've covered 1000 miles.
They are hard to sell and people are scared of them, running costs, terrible fuel economy, clutch and flywheel going, labour rates, parts etc. There are too many horror stories out there.
I couldn't sell mine even with a warranty and a free clutch and flywheel thrown in.
Summer may bring better fortunes for you.

They're just difficult cars to sell. Not a lot of people will want a massive V10 that does 12mpg in town. As an example, 645Ci's are the same price or cheaper than 630i's.
Also to many people the E63 is just too ugly. On the other hand the E60 seems to have aged well (IMO).
I think £16.5k is still a little expensive considering the mileage. By what you've described in the ad it looks a great example but people do get hung up on mileage rather than condition. After a year or two this will be a 100k car which is a bit of a mental block. I think you should be happy taking £15-15.5k. Good luck!

I have an M car, and would love one of these (Well actually an E61 M5) but what really puts me off is the horror stories and the potential expense. It seems these really are streets ahead in terms of running costs than other M cars. Because of it, I will probably never get one, even though I can afford the purchase.
I guess at the end of the day, its worth what someone is prepared to pay. Maybe its less than you are willing to sell for.
If you still like it, why not keep it and use it for everything? Surely if your worried about the depreciation loss, an X5M will depreciate like a stone?

Slightly off topic but if you were to consider buying an M5 Touring, let me know.I guess at the end of the day, its worth what someone is prepared to pay. Maybe its less than you are willing to sell for.

I would love one, but they currently scare me to be honest. You thinking of selling?
Advert looks good to me, as does the car so I think like others have said price.
I'll be looking at one of these or an M5 at the end of the year and I think the mileage would put me off from a warranty point. If I couldn't get a Mondial on it for reasonable money, I'd want it a fair bit cheaper to have a huge bork fund.
