Had my heart set on F10 M5 as I have E60 M5 now. However I have been looking into the F80 M3 and I have seen a few in the flesh over the last couple of days.

To me the M3 has so much more presence than the M5. The shape is something else, and the Yas Marina blue wow!

Really don't know what to do now...

Space isn't an issue for me, 4 doors is so no M4 for me.

My biggest fear is going from a 500+ E60 M5 to a F80 M3.. As in the E60 M5 when not in full power mode you can really feel the difference. I've not driven the F80 M3 yet so I don't know how it will compare yet to the F10 M5 or my current E60 M5.

So at the moment I'm really torn between the two. I think the deciding factor will be once I've driven the M3. I have driven F10 M5 and wow I was impressed!

The E60 M5 V10 is amazing! It really really exceeded my expectations when I bought it. The sound, the velocity of the gear change which I love by the way! Everything just syncs nicely for me. I drove the F10 M5 it is no doubt more refined than the E60 the only thing I didn't like was that it wasnt as raw as the E60 if that makes sense.. apart from that I really enjoyed it.

Ideally I don't want to have to tweak any of the cars to get it to do what I want it to. I will be using it as a daily car around town and a few motorway trips here and there and the morning school run.

My E60 M5 only gets used on the weekends always brings a smile to my face when I drive it its never a dull journey..

One thing I will miss on the E60 is the Active Seats, I have really become fond of that feature. I cant see any options on the F10 or F80 M cars which offer anything similar. I know some people think its gimmicky but i like it so do the front passengers..

I think the ultimate decision will come down to testing the F80 M3 and the F10 M5 again.

Basically this I went test driving pretty much feeling certain I wanted an F80 M3, man was I wrong, compared to the M5 the M3 feels cheap and noisy. M5 all the way.

I've got a test drive booked in for the M3 on Sunday morning, let's see how that goes.. In all honesty you never really get a feel for a car in a test drive that much obviously the sales rep is with you so you need to control yourself as much as possible and at the same time you never know how you will feel living with it for at least a few days etc. They should offer weekend test drives like some of the top end garages do.

Had the test drive in the F80 M3... Was impressed yes sounds and feels great wasn't to impressed after 70 not as much pull as my E60 M5. The true test will come when I test drive the M5 I think will full fill all my needs!!! The dealership is trying to get one for me next week. Hopefully they will give it to me for a few days...

Do you think it would be a disappointment going from the E60 M5 to the F80 M3 ?
Depends what you like and want... The M3 F80 didn't get my pulse racing like my E60 M5. I think the M5 F10 will be the one for me
