Is it me, does it annoy you seeing an m badge knowing it's not an m3/m4 etc?

I've seen a 320d in Woking with a random m badge stuck on kidney grill which was terrible.

Then seen a new convertible, which was an m in drag- given it had only 2 exhausts.

I just don't understand why you would do it. If people know what an m is and can tell/appreciate it they will know it's a fraud or an m in drag- and for everyone else they won't even care.

I prefer model deletion that I did on my 320d E90, and now have done same on my z4 35i etc - but I would love the M badge, when I can buy a nice M - not an m sport.

Model deletion is the opposite, I don't want people knowing what I've got but people in the know can tell what car you have.

It also looks a lot better, the Z4 with s drive emblazoned on the side is not nice to look at, it's like reading a bmw model magna carta.

In both instance, the 320d could've been mistaken for a 318,316 as it has a single pipe etc., refreshed model of E90.

The z4 35i could be mistaken for a 35is to the dumb, but they didn't produce those in 2009 so seeing the pipes either side means it has to be a 35i.

I am not trying to masquerade my car by sticking something on it, that it's not. Isn't it better to be elusive? Removing a badge doesn't mean you're pretending to be anything, shoving one on is.

Though if I had a proper M car, then I would keep the badges as I've earnt it

I don't actually own an M, but it still offends me seeing fake m badges everywhere.

I think I've changed my mind though, BMW should give out M badges to all owners (in the post/next service)

Obviously this will add an extra +5bhp.

I am going to stick mine on the end of my todger, so I can be more desirable and get admiring glances.

The extra thrust of sticking an M badge on will help too!

Also I will consider a 12 inch ruler tattoo down my leg (not to scale), as I also like boasting about something I don't have in that area too 😉

Now we can all de-value the m brand.....

Trying to understand the mentality of why people would actively stick an m badge on, this hasn't fundamentally been answered (i.e. Not due to BMW UK)
