Or TODAY even !!!

Having never had a BMW I have been looking at them more and more of late.

I've recently been on a couple of driving tours where fellow drivers had either 1M, 135i or 235is and I have to say all of them have really impressed me.

So today I thought "why not" and went and put down £1k to secure a build slot on a new M2.

I agreed with the dealer (who said I was number two on the list as somebody did exactly the same on Thursday) that I wanted it to be 100% refundable subject to learning more about the car which he agreed to so now it's time to start reading all the rumnour and speculation posts smile

I've also been strongly considering an M5 as on the 0%deal I'd put down the biggest possible deposit and then buy it after 24 months I suspect given that they seem to represent such fantastic (relative) VFM.

Any way plenty of time to think about it as launch isnt going to be until November apparently.

Feel free to tell me which one I should or shouldn't go for !!I

Very nice, all I suggest is you don't drive an M5/6 before or during your ownership of the 2. How does the saying go, There good but not quite Carling... smile
Fair point

It's going to be replacing a 760 BHP 200 mph CLS63 Shooting Brake so I'm prepared for a more compact and different experience smile

I do worry that I'll miss the grunt hence why the M5 still features in my thinking.

There are lots of good points being raised here.

In truth the Merc is marvellous but excessive. I love it dearly but only use its potential three or four times a year at VMax events and and on the odd track day.

I'm lucky enough to have a Vantage for weekend fun and a big wafty Disco for comfort so my logic was to get something practical, relatively cheap to run and compact as a daily driver andike I say the small 35 cars have really impressed me when I've seen them up close.

I do though very much wonder about the M5 as it just seem a such great value. On the current deals it's cheaper than an M3/4 !

What are the chances of the M2 being in limited supply like the 1M Coupe?
Dealer says not, allegedly going to be a full volume production car like the 3/4/5/6

Is that 760bhp a typo? 560bhp is about right, isn't it?
No smile

It has indeed been fettled.

It's very very fast and very very loud smile

It's been at a few Sunday Services over the past year and will no doubt be at a couple more before it has to go.

Resurrecting this thread.

I gave up waiting for BMW to confirm details on the M2, the strong view was that there would be news at Frankfurt but not a peep unfortunately. Latest estimates are March/April 2016 and sadly I can't wait that long.

So ..... I went to my dealer and enquired about an M3 but we couldn't get near to where I wanted to be (best they could do was approx. 9% discount on list all in, I said I'd seen 14 and would they move nearer to that at which point the salesman shut up shop gave me my money back and we parted company !

Anyway I have since ordered another car which I hope to collect this weekend and it is indeed a BMW smile

Glad youve sorted it.
I also have a cls running 700+ and the wife has a m135i.....you would have been disappointed I think.
What exhaust did you have, sounded like a capristo but not sure, the only thing I don't like is mines a shooting brake and not the tightest of chassis with all that power going rear wards, 1000nm tq and 2 wheels
Hello

Mine is an SB too, excellent choice smile

The exhaust on it is a RADO which I imported from the US and which runs from the manifolds back to OEM back box.

New car is a V8 twin turbo too and will do another thread when it comes.

Headline review:

Very fast

Beautifully built

Great gearbox

Fantastic in cabin technology

Great handling for its size

Far too quiet

My dealer and also a private finance broker ive used in the past are both telling me there's no GFV available for the M2 yet. Wont be on the system until January. So not sure where the figures have come from.
Agreed - I've been told exactly the same.

Interesting reading the waiting times compared to here in the UK.

Our dealership has 10 confirmed for first quarter and we haven't fulfilled all of them.

What are they going for in the UK? $110,000 for the full fat M2 here.

So having been the thread starter way back when and subsequently cancelled my deposit on an M2 with my local dealer in favour of a pre reg M5 from elsewhere I am now back on the list again for an M2 ! Delivery date as yet unspecified but expected to be q1 2017.

M5 has proven fun but post mods has become too powerful (750 ish BHp) is too big for my needs and having now run three mega bhp dailies in a row I think I want something a bit smaller, a bit more agile and something which gives its thrills at lower speeds.

Current thinking is for a dct car in Lbb. Anybody know if it's possible to get the BMW individual colours on the M2 ?

Robin, you could always wrap it... which also goes some way to protecting the paintwork from stonechips etc.?
Sound advice Pete

Prob best to get a standard colour for resale too I suppose.

I'll probably change my mind yet again by the time delivery comes around smile

Think I'm about to have a major fall-out with my dealer. Car has arrived, I've asked for transporter delivery as I can't get there to pick up (due to work). They refuse to help, saying no slots possible in Sept or Oct for a transporter delivery. ???? I don't believe it at all.

Yet they still want me to pay and have it registered before 30-Sept so it can fall within their quota.

Not sure if I'm being unreasonable (?) but had higher expectations of customer service when buying a £45k+ car.
I don't think you are being unreasonable at all.

I once had a not dissimilar situation whereby I couldn't get to the dealership to collect a car and they said "well can't somebody else come because it needs to be off the premises for our quarter end audit". I ended up complaint to the DP about their tactics regarding the sale of what was then a newly introduced £125k car.

I'm assuming they haven't done you any favours ref pricing or options etc given it's an M2 ? I think they're forgetting you are the customer.
