i8 MPG and any problems???
Discussion
Has anyone had any problems with their i8's, and what MPG are you getting.
I'm getting 35mpg and there's been a small amount of paintwork separation on the two tone bonnet colours - BMW are fixing under warranty, obvs.
I noted that a few PHers had compared the i8 to the M4 - one of which I own (i8) and the other (M4) I've had in various guises (manual, auto, coupe and rag top). They're completely different cars - I struggled to get more than 20MPG out of the M4. The manual is leagues ahead of the Auto, both in feel and fun. The rag top was a surprise guilty pleasure - looks amazing in Black with Ivory leather (also with the air scarf).
I also noted that 1 PHer said that his ran out of electric after 20 miles?! Bizarre, as the engine cuts in and automatically charges the batteries well before they could run out. It has no impact on the performance of the car - it's still a 350 bhp sports car in sports mode, which is exactly how it's driven most of the time anyway. The power delivery is linear and smooth. I've owned mine for 3 months and I've only plugged it in at home twice - no need to plug in.
The i8 is epic - it's the one that feels so special every time you drive it that the only other considerations for impact are twice the price.
There are only 3 things wrong with the i8 (IMHO) - the novelty of the doors have worn off, it's not quick enough (i8S can't come quick enough) and lads leaning out of their vans on the motorway videoing it is also getting quite embarrassing (also dangerous).
BMW Warwick have been brilliant as far as customer service is concerned - M3, M4, 640d convertible..... take your pick of cars to borrow when you need to.
Interested to hear anyone else's stories.
